During this time of quarantine, the DFW South Asian Film Festival / NYC South Asian Film Festival has been presenting “ECSA, Escapist Cinema of South Asia“, a seven-week online series (May 16th to June 27th) with new films every Saturday night (7 to 10 p.m. CDT) “to entertain, engage and educate cinephiles who are observing shelter-in-place during the pandemic anywhere in the world.”
On Saturday, May 30th, the evening will feature LGBTQIA programming with : LONG DISTANCE (Short) + LAST LETTER (Short) + U for USHA (Short) + VENUS (Feature), all starting at 7PM. In “VENUS”, “genders, generations and cultures collide in a comedy about a modern family unit”. Both U for USHA and LAST LETTER were produced by Lotus Visual. You can view the trailer here and then reserve a ticket here for the films. After the films, hang around a bit longer for drag performances by Tara Ryst & Manghoe Lassi.
