Joshua Patel On Other Boys NYC

Other Boys NYC is an online documentary series that explores the diverse experiences of 50 queer and transgender men of color in New York City. The series aims to inspire empathy and discussion through taking an intimate look at the intersection of race, sexuality and gender identity through the personal lens of the guys featured on each episode. We were excited to see a familiar face on the most recent episode with Joshua Patel sharing his journey coming out as a gay South Asian man. Josh shared with us how it felt to express himself on screen, “This experience was both liberating and therapeutic—as I sat in front of a camera while exuding my vulnerable side. My hope is that such advocacy will inspire those still in the closet, to have the courage to be their authentic self.”
