“Nightlife” by Harune Massey Screens on May 8th

Harune Massey, an award-winning writer and director working out of Pakistan and New York, presents his short film “Nightlife” as part of the New York Indian Film Festival. “Nightlife” provides a highly nuanced glimpse into the life of male sex workers of Lahore who often ply their trade as teenage masseurs clinking their oil bottles on the discreet but known-to-the-customer street corners waiting to be picked up by passing motorists. The film unfolds by examining the relationship shared by its title characters, two boys who are each other’s partners, lovers and co-protectors.

Harune Massey has worked on a broad range of content in Pakistan and the US including TV commercials, Public service announcements, and short films. He recently served as First Assistant Director on Pakistani Films, “Zinda Bhaag”(Mateela films), and Sabiha Sumar’s “Good Morning Karachi”.

“Zinda Bhaag” the acclaimed feature film about three men trying to escape the reality of their everyday lives is also set in Lahore and will be screened following “Nightlife.”
